From Youth Exchange Student to Regional Leader in Rotary

Philip Muneer Flindt was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, adopted to Denmark as an infant, and grew up in a suburb of Copenhagen. As a 16-year-old kid, Philip Flindt experienced a life-changing year as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA. Living in a foreign culture meeting new and different people he learned to adapt to any social relationship and situation – which today inspires him in his style leadership.

Philip also learned that working in communities and organizations were passions of his and he started working on developing his strategic, organizational and leadership skills. Returning to high school in Denmark, he became Student Council President and during his years studying at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, he helped start two student organizations where he served as board member.

As a returning exchange student he worked with the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme in Rotary International District 1470 for several years – helping training the next generations of young individuals going on their life-changing exchange year.
